This month the challenge is with one of the industry partners of the Island Batik Ambassador's Program, the Studio 180 Design and Deb Tucker wonderful tools!
For me, personally, the challenge started at the moment they asked us to choose ONLY ONE tool to try, because I could choose all of them ;) If you are seeking to add accuracy and precision to your quilting projects you totally should check their tools, because they are MAGICAL!
After a lot of thinking, I chose the V Block Trimmer (click the name of the tool to access the direct link and also to watch the video demo). For my The Pool Side Quilt, I decided to use only V Blocks for the entire quilt and only make size variations and colors. For a while now, I was also looking forward to mix Island Batik Foundations and Island Batik Solids on the same project and now was the time!
For the pattern I will provide the fabric requirements plus the block size requirements because the idea is to make YOU also "try the tool" ;)
Now, for the blocks!
4 "pool floating" units, total of 16 V Block units 4 1/2" square finished size for the center
(2) 1/2" x 20 1/2" of blue solid stripes for sashing the top and bottom of floating blocks
(2) 1/2" x 18 1/2" of blue solid stripes for sashing the sides of the floating blocks
(40) V Block units 2 1/2" squares
(4) 2 1/2 squares of Island Batik Mardigras for the corners

I love to use my iPad Pro and the Procreate app to plan my quilting, if you would like to know more details about this process just drop me a comment at the bottom of the post ;)
For this quilt I chose to work with many color variations which also makes the back side of the quilt very interesting!
Some sneak peek videos of the quilting process:
And finally The Pool Side quilt, featuring all the V Blocks that my imagination could create!
Stay tuned for the next month Blog Hop! See you in September 17th :)
