In this case the fabric design was about 2 1/2” and 3” and outline the outside with thread painting just repeating the flower shape on the center was the perfect solution. But in this case, the feathers are already there, all marked already and you just need to choose your thread color and go around them! It's Summer!!! - I decided to add some quilting to the backpack, so I did cut the same size of Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Cotton/Polyester blend batting and NO fabric on the back. Just layer the two pieces together like a regular quilt but with no fabric on the back, pin and quilt as desired. I decided echo 1/4" the piecing lines instead of stitch in the ditch the roll thing, I liked it because it added a special detail and also highlighted the geese. You are probably asking yourself what are those dots around the circle. The dots are registration marks to help me to "close" the fabric on the back side of the loop after I finish all the stitching. So I was thread hunting the entire studio, so for this project it was a real "task force" and combinations of different colors and threads, like Aurifil floss and also Aurifil 12wt in cotton, and I couldn't resist to add some sparkling with Au Ver a Soie. This is how I like to secure the excess of fabric on the back of the hoop. I was very impressed with the "BOB" collection of dies because with block on board die, you can cut an entire block at once and still have the option of layering different colors of fabric to make multiple block designs. She was born in South America (São Paulo, Brasil), lived in Europe for 10 years (Zürich, Switzerland) and is currently based in United States (Connecticut). She is fluent in Portuguese, German and English.
